Merry Christmas for Minnesota

The Minnesota football coaches got an early Christmas present on Tuesday with an important verbal commitment.
"I committed to Minnesota today," said Newark (N.J.) Malcolm X Shabazz athlete Amir Pinnix. "It came down to Rutgers and Minnesota, but in the end I really wanted to play outside of New Jersey and experience another part of the country."

Pinnix, a 5-foot-11, 195-pounder who could be a tailback, cornerback or safety in college, liked the fact that Minnesota wanted him as a running back first. He was also surprised at how much he liked the area.
"Minnesota is nicer than I expected," he said. "I really think i'll have a chance to play early as a running back and it was a great fit for me."
