Merritt schedules two more officials

Three-star athlete Jamal Merritt holds four offers. The Sandy Spring (Md.) Sherwood prospect took his first official in December and plans to take two more trips this month.
"I've got the same four offers," he said. "I took one visit in early December to New Mexico.

"I have another visit to Ohio coming this week and then I've got another visit to Rutgers the last week in January. That's not set in stone."
With two visits coming up, Merritt discussed what he hopes to see on the trips.
"I'm just looking for how the campus life is, the environment around campus and the classes," he said. "I want to see how they have study hall and the dorms. I want to see how the coaches are and the players to see if I fit in with them."
Merritt currently holds offers from East Carolina, New Mexico, Ohio and Rutgers.
Recently, the 6-foot-0, 175-pounder participated in the Crab Bowl.
"It went pretty well," he said. "They had me at free safety rotating with another guy. I had a couple big hits.
"I felt like a lot of the players were on the same level I'm at. It definitely helped me out, just getting to know the speed of the college game."
Merritt finished his senior year with 30 tackles, three interceptions and two pass breakups.
