Merritt has more visits in mind

Three-star athlete Jamal Merritt out of Sandy Spring (Md.) Sherwood has taken in one camp so far. The 6-foot-0, 175-pounder is planning to hit up more schools in the second half of the summer. Where is he headed?
"I've been to West Virginia for camp on June 20th," he said. "It was good. I liked it up there and everything was nice.

"They didn't offer, but they were talking about what they've got and they want to see me at the beginning of my senior year."
Merritt is holding onto three scholarships at this time from Rutgers, East Carolina and Ohio and is looking to visit two of them soon.
"I want to get out and visit both East Carolina and Rutgers for unofficials," he said. "I want to go and see what's going on at the campuses a bit more. I've been to Rutgers a couple times, but I want to see more. I definitely have to get back down to ECU too."
While Merritt claims visits, he has no specific dates in mind at this time. He did however discuss both schools further.
"I like both of them," he said. "They have good programs and are headed in the right direction. Rutgers has been a top 10 and 20 team for the last couple years. They are definitely playing well and the defense is one of the best out there.
"I like the way East Carolina is hanging their offense out. They are spreading it out and giving more people a chance to show off what they can do."
In addition, Merritt claims no leaders at this time.
He is still waiting to see what else comes in.
"West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Stanford are interested," he said. "Pittsburgh wants me to get down for a camp sometime this summer to evaluate me. I'm considering it, but I'm not sure when exactly that is either."
