Merrell twins have some leaders
Newark (Dela.) Hodgson Vo-Tech three-star prospects Jamil Merrell and Jamal Merrell are taking a break from recruiting. The two Delaware defensive prospects are focusing on the upcoming season at this time as three-a-days start Friday.
"Everything is going good," 6-foot-4, 210-pound defensive end Jamil Merrell said. "We've both been training and conditioning for three-a-days in preparation for our first game at the end of August.
"We've got a nice team returning. We should be solid again. I really want to work on a lot of stuff and keep going hard."
What's going on, on the recruiting front for the twins?
"We haven't visited anyone recently," he said. "We'll probably wait until after the season to take officials.
"We haven't kicked anybody out yet."
Who are the Merrell's looking at?
"A few schools we are interested in are Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Michigan," he said. "We're looking at the ones who are looking at us. We just want a good school, a good program and solid coaches."
The Merrell's both hold offers from Rutgers and Pittsburgh, but neither have one from Michigan.
"They haven't offered yet, but they are interested. We like that school," he said. "As for the other two, Pittsburgh is up there because we like the coaching staff.
"At Rutgers, we know a couple players there and want to play with good players. We like Coach Schiano a lot too."
