Merrell taking things slow

Linebacker Jamal Merrell out of Newark (Dela.) Hodgson Vo-Tech holds over a half dozen offers. The 6-foot-4, 195-pounder isn't addressing the recruiting situation at this time as he is focused on the season.
"Everything is going good," he said. "We're 3-0 so far and averaging 40-points per game. I've got to keep it going.

"I've been playing well. I've got six touchdowns receiving and I'm averaging 10 tackles per game. I have one solo sack as well."
Has the three-star prospect seen an improvement in his ability this year?
"I'm much more wise in the game," he said. "I think it has slowed down for me. I'm also faster and stronger. That helps too."
Merrell did address recruiting briefly.
"I'm not focusing on it until after out football season," he said. "I haven't taken any unofficials and don't have any planned.
"I still have eight offers from Florida State, Iowa, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple, Tennessee and West Virginia. I don't have any favorites right now."
Merrell mentioned he plans to take officials.
"Unless I really, really like a college I'm going to take my officials."
