Mendoza watches offers pile up

Trying to keep track of all the offers that Houston (Texas) Spring Woods running back Marcus Mendoza has picked up is pretty tough since he seems to add a new one almost every week. The list is getting full quick but Mendoza is trying to keep things even at this early stage.
The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder missed some of his junior season due to injury, but still managed 657 yards on the ground and 10 touchdowns. The second team all-district selection definitely isn't having a problem with recruiting after that effort.

"Let's see, I don't know about new offers because there are a lot," Mendoza said. "Arizona has offered but I haven't heard from Texas A&M since I went there for a visit. There are a lot of them though."
A lot includes Baylor, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas State, Arizona State Northwestern, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, and now Arizona are all on the offer list. The Sun Devil coaches were the first coaches to make a phone call during the first part of the contact period.
"Yeah, I got a call from their running backs coach," Mendoza said. "He just said that he really wants me to be a Sun Devil and go down for a visit. He told me that when the running back coach comes this way, it shows how much he wants him.
"I'm going to keep in touch with him."
Florida is the next school of many to come to town in order to get a closer look at Mendoza.
"They just said they want to see me and they're going to be at the morning practice," he said. "He may already be down here."
