Memphis WR has SEC offers

A pair of SEC programs have offered scholarships to Memphis (Tenn.) Wooddale wide receiver Roderick Davis.
"Ole Miss text messages me a lot and they have offered me a scholarship," Davis said. "South Carolina text messages me a lot and they have offered me a scholarship."

Davis attended the Rebels Junior Day in Oxford during the weekend.
"It was simple," Davis said. "I liked it. I talked to their wide receivers coach (Matt Lubick), I talked to the head coach (Ed Orgeron) and I talked to coach Hugh Freeze."
South Carolina wide receivers coach Steve Spurrier Jr. is recruiting Davis for the Gamecocks.
"I haven't visited that program yet," he said. "But I am hoping to visit it soon."
Davis will head to Baton Rouge, La., this weekend for the LSU Junior Day. He also has been receiving text messages from Illinois written correspondence from Tennessee and Alabama and still likes Michigan State, Texas Tech, UCLA, Virginia Tech, Nebraska and Texas.
"I am interested in any college," Davis said. "Any big-time program, I like or even if they are D-II, I like them.
"I'm just looking for a school that has good academics. Somewhere that I know if I get hurt, then I will still have my scholarship and have something to fall back on."
While Davis isn't close to making a final decision, one school does stand out at the moment.
"Right now, it would have to be Ole Miss," Davis said. "They have been sending me a lot of text messages and I have been calling and talking to their coaches a lot."
The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder projects as a wide receiver or kickoff returner at the next level. He caught 39 passes for 775 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2005 and totaled 609 kickoff return yards.
Davis is talented enough, however, to play in the defensive secondary if needed. He had 15 pass break-ups his junior year.
He will attend the Athens NIKE Camp on April 29 on the campus of the University of Georgia.
