Cottam has received his first scholarship offer, and it's from one of
the teams high on his list.
"Ole Miss called and offered me a scholarship this week,"
said the Evangelical Christian standout. "I was happy to hear that because
that's one of my top picks.
"I'm not ready to commit or anything. I still want to look
at some other schools, but (Ole Miss) is very attractive to me. When I went up
there (for a summer camp), I really enjoyed their coaches. I also know a bunch
of people who will be going there from my school."
Cottam has also received calls from Louisville, Memphis and
Tennessee this week. His current top five includes Ole Miss, Tennessee, Auburn,
Arkansas and Florida.
Asked what the main characteristics he'll be looking for in
a school, Cottam said "Somewhere that's close to home, a place that fits my
major whenever I decide, and just feeling comfortable around the people there."
Cottam (6-8, 240, 4.65) caught three passes for 45 yards
and two touchdowns in Evangelical Christian's first game of the season. As a
junior, he had 15 receptions for 200 yards and three scores.
