Memphis (Tenn.) Ridgeway running back Aaron Crawford is on the verge of his first scholarship offer and will travel to a Junior Day event on the campus of the defending SEC West champions this weekend.
"I got word today from my coach that Mississippi State was going to offer me a scholarship," Crawford said.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound Crawford will travel to Baton Rouge this weekend for LSU's Junior Day event.
"LSU has a good team and they keep a good team year after year," Crawford said. "I am a fan of all the colleges I am considering."
Tennessee, South Carolina and Auburn are the other schools on Crawford's early list of favorites.
"I really don't have any favorites," he said. "I also have high interest in Florida State, but they haven't really been recruiting me.
Ole Miss and Arkansas also have been showing interest.
"I was invited to the Junior Day at Ole Miss, but I didn't make it," he said.
Crawford rushed for 2,242 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2005 in leading his team to a 12-1-1 record.
