Memphis DL staying home

Memphis (Tenn.) Christian Brothers defensive tackle Ryan Williams was one of several commitments to fall into place for the hometown Tigers during a successful recruiting week that past.
“They offered me last week, and I accepted,” he said. “I went on my official visit and had a great time. They have a real tight-knit team. All the players are real close. It feels like a family atmosphere. And there’s four of us from Christian Brothers going to Memphis, so that’s going to be fun. We had always talked about going to the same school together.

“Another big thing for me in my decision was my relationship with the coaches. I really like coach West and his staff. They’re taking the program to a new level. And coach Dunn is one of the best defensive coordinators in the country. I like the idea of playing for him.”
Williams (6-2, 280, 4.9) picked the Tigers over Western Kentucky, Tennessee Tech and Southern Illinois. His height was reportedly a concern of some bigger schools, but he runs well and is the strongest player on the CBHS roster with a 385 bench and a 535 squat.
He will join teammates Brandon Pearce, Brett Russell and Philip Beliles at Memphis. The Tigers are also recruiting CBHS standout Corey Mills, one of the South’s top-ranked defensive line prospects.
