Megginson adds Michigan State

Jacksonville, Ill., offensive lineman Gabe Megginson has seen his number of offers swell to 14 teams, with Michigan State being the most recent to join the list.
"They have been talking about an offer since their last home game, so it was a long-time coming," Megginson said. "They told me to be patient and when I called them [Thursday] I got to talk with Coach [Mark] Dantonio and that is when he let me know.

"It means a lot to me. You grow up watching the Big Ten, so every Big Ten offer means something. I never thought I would have a chance to play for one of those programs."
Megginson has already visited Michigan State, taking in their home contest against Minnesota this past fall. He came away from that visit with a good feel for the Spartans.
"[The offer] means a lot with what they just did with their season," he said. "I like the coaching staff and everything. I could easily talk with Coach [Mark] Staten. I do like the style of offense they run. I do really like it up there."
Although Michigan State just offered this week, they are among the schools he has the best feel for at this stage of the process.
"The best relationships - the ones that recruit the hardest - are Wisconsin, Illinois, Mizzou, Michigan State and I have a great relationship with Coach [John] Garrison from Nebraska too," Megginson said.
Megginson has no plans to publicly trim his list any time soon, and wants to make several more visits in the coming months. He has trips that were just recently taken, and is looking at more in the spring.
"I visited Mizzou, Indiana and then Illinois," Megginson said. "I'll probably make it out to Nebraska pretty soon. That will probably be one of my next visits."
The 6-foot-5, 289-pound Megginson is rated three-stars and ranked as the No. 39 offensive tackle in the country and the No. 6 prospect in the state of Illinois' 2015 class.
