Quenton Meeks has one more visit planned to Vanderbilt later this summer and then the San Diego (Calif.) Del Norte athlete should be ready to narrow his list.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound prospect who looked good recently at the UCLA Elite Camp said two teams from the Pac-12 are definitely making the cut and the Commodores could also be up there if an offer comes on his trip.
"It kind of seems like everything will slow down a little bit until the season starts," Meeks said. "The dead period is going on now. I'm hearing a little bit more from Vanderbilt so I think I'll visit them when I go back to see my family in Atlanta. I'll make the drive to Nashville and check them out.
"I'll probably kind of narrow the list down before the season starts and then go from there.
"It's still kind of open. I'm going to make a top eight or a top five. I can definitely say UCLA, Stanford and if Vanderbilt offers they would make the list. The other schools are still up for grabs so we'll see."
So far, Meeks, who could play wide receiver or defensive back, has been offered by Arizona State, Boston College, Cal, Oregon State, Stanford, UCLA, Utah, Washington and Washington State.
USC has been showing a decent amount of interest but Meeks gets the sense the Trojans are not going to offer until at least his senior season.
"I'm hearing just a little bit from SC, nothing really major though," Meeks said. "I'm staying in contact with them.
"It looks like they're going to wait on an offer until my season but I never know. I would expect one during the season if they were to offer."
As for a decision, the San Diego Del Norte standout is not sure of timing. He wants to take some official visits first and doesn't want to rush anything because new programs get involved all the time.
"I'm kind of stuck on when to make a decision," Meeks said.
"I definitely want to take at least a couple official visits, maybe not all five, but take a few to the ones I really want to see that I can't get to by driving. I don't know when I'm going to decide on those trips but I do want to take a couple of them."
