Mean Gene a highly-touted QB

The state of Delaware isn’t exactly home to a huge number of blue-chip college prospects year in and year out. But every once in a while and elite prospect from the state will emerge. In the Class of 2005, an elite prospect that is one of the nation’s best quarterbacks is Gene Delle Donne.
Delle Donne, who is 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds, threw for 1,759 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior, completing 66 percent of his passes. He earned all-Catholic and all-state honors along with being named an Elite 11 Quarterback camp ball boy before his junior season.

“I’m a pro-style, drop back quarterback,” Delle Donne said. “I was one of three in the country to be chosen a ball boy for the Elite 11. That was chosen based on performance at the Nike Camp.”
Expect Delle Donne to be a highly recruited athlete. He lists his current favorites as Ohio State, Nebraska, Purdue, Florida, Pittsburgh and Boston College. He’s scheduled to camp this summer at Purdue, Ohio State, Florida and again at the Nike Training Camp.
“Academics will be key in my decision,” Delle Donne, who sports a 3.76 grade-point average, said. “I’m also going to look hard at the overall athletic program program.”
Delle Donne said he would prefer to play on a natural surface and definitely plays to play away from home in college.
