MDs Taylor pulls ACC offer

A big offer has come in for Springdale (Md.) Flowers tight end Monte Taylor. The 6-foot-3, 235-pounder pulled the scholarship from the ACC late last week.
"I got the offer from North Carolina last Thursday," he said. "I talked to my recruiter and the defensive coordinator, my former recruiter was moved up to head coach and he really wanted me bad."

Taylor is impressed by the offer.
"I was pretty happy that I got the offer, that's my favorite school and I really wanted them to offer me," he said. "I appreciate them offering me."
What does Taylor think of the Tar Heels?
"I think that they handled the Butch Davis situation well, and when I come I could provide my skills to do what I can do," he said. "I want to visit them probably once the season starts. I know they'll be one of my official visits."
Taylor noted that a decision could come fairly quickly.
"It might be soon, before the season starts," he said. "I just want to calm down from all the excitement a bit."
One thing he won't deny though is that North Carolina leads.
"Oh, yes sir, they lead," he said. "It's the atmosphere at North Carolina, the coaching staff and I like the area. It's just a great experience."
North Carolina offered Taylor as a defensive end.
