MDs Martin takes first official, schedules more

Upper Marlboro (Md.) Gwynn Park defensive end Jeremiah Martin took his first official visit of the season to Akron this past weekend. The 6-foot-1, 220-pounder enjoyed the trip and has the Zips in his top three at this time.
"It was a really nice visit," he said. "They had everything waiting for me and my mom. They showed us around campus, showed me the academic aspects and overall it's definitely a school I'll take into consideration.

"I actually got there on Thursday morning and stayed until Saturday. I got there and ung out with the coaches, my host and met some students on Friday. I spent a lot of time with my host Jermaine Lindsey. He was actually from my area and being around him made me feel at home."
On the trip, Martin took in the Zips contest against Buffalo.
"They beat the heck out of them and the game was nice," he said. "The stadium was packed and I could feel the intensity. The fans there were crazy and I've never been to a game like that. I really like how everybody embraces the team, it was fun. During the game, I did pay attention to the linebackers since that's what I'd play. I could tell they need some help there. I think I could come in and help make an impact pretty quick.
While on the trip, the lineman prospect was able to talk with quite a few of the coaches.
"I talked to coach Brookhard and the rest of the staff," he said. "They seemed like they were really telling me the truth. They talked about what my part is in the organization and feel I have a good shot at playing bandit linebacker right away since they are losing two linebackers next year."
Currently Akron is in the top three for Martin.
"I'd rate the trip a nine," he said. "It was my first official and I've got many more to come, but I can say I never felt uncomfortable there. It felt like home."
The other schools in Martin's top three are Tennessee and Boston College.
"I picked up an offer from Tennesseea couple weeks ago," he said. "Coach Slade called and let me know they were going to offer and then I set up my official with them on December 8th. I've also scheduled a trip to Boston College on December 22nd.
"On both of those trips, I want to see how the players interact with the coaches and each other. I want to see what the school offers me academically so that I can get a good degree in business. Finally, I just want to see if I like it there."
The Maryland prospect is still working on setting up one other official visit to Temple.
"I'm looking at scheduling a trip to Temple possibly at the end of the month. I want to go with my mom out there to see the school. I think once I'm done with these trips I'll be ready to make a decision."
