MD QB names top three

Germantown (Md.) Northwest quarterback Ike Whitaker is one of the top prospect from Maryland in the class of 2005. Whitaker is now up to six scholarship offers and has a solid top three. Which schools headline Whitaker’s list?
“In order they would be Virginia Tech, Virginia, and then Maryland. Those are my top three but they change positions in the top three daily,” said the 6-foot-4, 200-pound signal caller who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds.

What schools are currently recruiting Whitaker?
“I have scholarship offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Connecticut, Syracuse, and North Carolina.”
What does Whitaker look for in a school?
“I look at how the team interacts with each other first. I want to play for a cohesive unit. I then look for solid academics and a good coaching staff.”
Whitaker attended the NIKE Camp at Charlottesville this past weekend. What did the dual-threat quarterback take away from the experience?
“I felt I performed pretty well. I am pretty raw at the quarterback position. The instructors felt the only flaw in my game was that I need to keep my head and eyes up.”
Whitaker threw for 1,240 yards and 23 touchdowns last season. He also added 670 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns.
