Germantown (Md.) Northwest quarterback Ike Whitaker is one of the most exciting players in the state of Maryland for 2005. Whitaker has four scholarship offers currently. Who has offered the talented signal caller?
"I have offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Syracuse and Maryland," said the 6-foot-4, 201-pound playmaker who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds.
Does Whitaker have any favorites?
"I would have to say that Virginia, Florida, Penn State, Maryland, and Virginia Tech are my top schools. It is early, but those are the schools that interest me the most."
Whitaker threw for 1,240 yards and 23 touchdowns last season. He also added 670 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns. Even though Whitaker put up great numbers, he knows there is always room for improvement.
"I am working on my accuracy and touch on the deep throws. You can never be too accurate."
What does Whitaker look at when considering a school?
"I look at the offense of the program first. Then I look at the relationships between the players and the coaches."
Whitaker's team will camp at West Virginia and Pittsburgh this summer.
