McWhirter schedules third official visit

Defensive lineman Sean McWhirter out of Maple Plain (Minn.) Orono has already made one official visit and has had another scheduled for some time. McWhirter has also scheduled a third trip.
"I'm looking at Minnesota, Michigan State, Iowa State, Colorado State, and Northwestern," McWhirter said. "They all offered a scholarship.

"I've taken a (official) visit to Michigan State. My next one is Minnesota Dec. 2. And I scheduled one to Northwestern too. That's the weekend after Minnesota."
McWhirter has seen three of the schools he is considering play in person this season.
"I went to a Minnesota game," he said. "And I went to an Iowa State game and a Michigan State game."
Though there are three Big Ten schools on his list, McWhirter says playing in that conference is not a priority.
"Whether I play in the Big Ten or not doesn't matter that much," he said. "Hopefully I'll decide sometime in December."
The 6-foot-4 and 245-pound McWhirter made 75 tackles during his senior season. He had 24 tackles for losses including 10 sacks.
McWhirter is is the No. 9 prospect in the state of Minnesota in the Rivals.com player rankings.
