McWhirter ready for more visits

Maple Plain (Minn.) Orono defensive lineman Sean McWhirter has been a varsity starter at defensive end since his sophomore year. He has also played some inside linebacker and starts on the other side of the ball at offensive tackle. McWhirter may move inside to defensive tackle in college.
The 6-foot-4, 245 pound McWhirter made 113 tackles including nine sacks during his junior season. McWhirter had 16 tackles for losses as he was named all-conference.
"As of now I have offers from Minnesota and Iowa State," McWhirter said. "And I've had steady contact from Michigan State, Iowa, Nebraska, and Notre Dame. Those are the main ones. And Northwestern also.
"Right now I'm still pretty open. I visited some junior days at Iowa, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Minnesota, and Northwestern. I've been to quite a few.
"I signed up for the Iowa camp June 4. I'm trying to decide what other ones to go to. I think I'll go to about four more."
McWhirter said he has received calls during the month of May from Michigan State, Minnesota, Iowa, Iowa State, Northwestern, and Nebraska.
