McStravick has big plans

Houston (Texas) Strake Jesuit wide receiver Christian McStravick led the Crusaders in receiving as a sophomore and a junior, and he is a two-time first-team all-district selection. As a sophomore he earned district co-newcomer of the year honors.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound receiver has also been a standout on the track, and that is where his talents are currently on display.

"Right now I'm actually still in track season, so I can't get back into spring football until I finish track," McStravick said. "Right now our 4x4 team is looking to go to state and if that happens I'm missing all of spring football. So there's kind of a good chance I'm not going to be playing in the spring this year."
McStravick recently claimed the district 400m championship with a 49.04 and he is a member of Strake Jesuit's 4x400m which also claimed a district title and ran 6A's sixth fastest time at the Texas Relays with a 3:15.90.
"I was actually hurt last year. I had a pulled hamstring all of track so that was really unfortunate. I'm really a big track runner so it's been good to get back running. And I think it's been helping with football," McStravick said. "I've gotten a lot faster since last year or last season. I think it's just another plus to help with my recruiting. It's been a good season so far."
Recruiting has also been going well. Several schools have expressed an interest and he has a few plans in mind for the summer months.
"I've been talking a lot with Northwestern and I'm scheduled to visit there one of the first weeks of summer," McStravick said. "I've been talking to Purdue a lot and I'm also scheduled to visit one of the first weeks of summer. Colorado State I've been talking to. Kansas. Mississippi State. Those are the main colleges I've talked to over the phone and stuff. Oh and actually a Michigan coach came a few weeks ago."
Rice is the only visit McStravick was able to take this spring, but and he has a few camp plans in mind.
"I'm thinking about going to a Michigan camp," McStravick said. "One of the coaches came down but I haven't gotten many letters from them. But I am really interested in them so I might want to go up to Michigan. And Boise State I might want to go up and attend a camp too."
He has yet to receive his first scholarship offer, but a few college programs appear to be close to being the first.
"Northwestern made it pretty clear they're going to offer when I go up for my visit," McStravick said. 'Then Colorado State said they're sending a coach down within the next week or two and it seems like they might offer. I think those two might be the first ones."
Coaches from both schools have made a strong impression on the big receiver.
"Northwestern I really like them. All the coaches are great. I've talked to a few of them," McStravick said. "Colorado State, I've really liked the coaches who have talked to me. I haven't really got to do much research on these colleges yet so I don't have much to say. But those two I really like."
McStravick recorded 749 yards and eight touchdowns on 45 receptions as a sophomore, and recorded 739 yards and nine touchdowns on 44 receptions as a junior.
