Reports that James Franklin will leave Vanderbilt to replace Bill O'Brien at Penn State have been swirling, but no official statement has been made yet.
Vanderbilt commit Trace McSorley is one of the many recruits left wondering what will become of his head coach.
"I talked to a couple of coaches," McSorley said. "They told me to hang in there and that Coach Franklin hasn't taken anything yet. Coach (John) Donovan said he doesn't want to go anywhere."
The Vanderbilt commits have become a tight-knit group and they are all trying to figure out what is going on.
"All of us commits are sort of in the same spot," McSorley said. "We're all just kind of waiting to see what happens. Some of us think that Coach Franklin is going to stay. If he does end up leaving, we'll have to see who they end up bringing in."
At least one other school is showing interest in McSorley.
"Boston College is the only school that has contacted me," McSorley said. "I talked to Coach (Ryan) Day earlier this week. He was saying that I always have a home there if something were to ever change."
McSorley committed to Vanderbilt back in mid-July.
