Kalvin McRae is showing a lot of loyalty toward the team which has
recruited him longest.
"Pittsburgh is my
favorite," he said. "They were the first to offer me, and they've been on me for
a long time. I like the situation I'd be in there. They like to run the ball and
throw to the backs, and that's what I do best. They've had a lot of good running
backs play there over the years.
"I plan on visiting their campus for a game as soon as I
can."
The 5-foot-9, 195-pound McRae rushed for 1,011 yards and
nine touchdowns on only 119 carries as a junior. He also had 345 yards receiving
out of the backfield.
His versatility has drawn interest from Clemson,
Alabama, Florida and LSU in addition to the Panthers.
"Clemson would probably be the No. 2 team right now," he
said. "I went to their camp, so I got a chance to see the campus and facilities.
It's a good program with a good coaching staff. I liked those guys a lot. I like
their offense, too. I feel like I'd fit in quite well running and catching the
ball."
A big senior season could spark even more interest in
McRae.
"I feel better than ever," he said. "I'm going for 2,000
yards this year. I think I can do it if I stay smart and take care of my body.
I've worked a lot on my conditioning and durability. I'm a lot faster, too. I'm
at 4.45 right now."
