McNeil decommits, adds offers

Back in early December, Durham (N.C.) Hillside tight end Josh McNeil made an early pledge to East Carolina. Now, the 6-foot-5, 235-pounder is having second thoughts as he reconsiders his options.
"I'm not committed anymore," he said. "I just wanted to open my recruitment back up and take all the information in and take more visits, so that I can tell what college I'm going to."

McNeil has since landed more offers, in addition to East Carolina, NC State and Vanderbilt have thrown offers on the table.
"I don't really know much about Vanderbilt, I hope to visit them sometime in the spring or summer," he said. "NC State is right around the corner. As a matter of fact, I'm visiting there on Tuesday. East Carolina is in the mix since they are my first offer."
In terms of visits, McNeil is eyeing trips to Florida and Ohio State for spring practices. Both are high on his list.
"They are the top two on my list," he said. "I just always wanted to attend Florida when I was a kid growing up, I'd watch them on TV," he said. "My best friend, Jamal Marcus committed to Ohio State. I'm considering them highly too. Both have said I should be getting offers this spring."
Plenty of other schools including much of the ACC is interested according to McNeil.
So, what is he looking for in a college?
"I just want to see how the campus is at schools, the atmosphere and what college coach treats me like family when I'm there. I'm looking for where I can play."
McNeil posted 28 receptions for 500-yards and five touchdowns while earning first team all-conference honors as a junior.
