MORE: Auburn pledge Thornton planning trips
Collins (Miss.) 2015 athlete Mark McLaurin was one of the top performers at the Army Combine last week in San Antonio, Texas, and has been a standout in Mississippi over the last few years.
The play of the 6-foot-3, 200-pound standout has turned heads and already has the attention of in-state programs.
"Right now I'm looking at close to three D1 offers. I have one from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Southern Miss," McLaurin said. "Mississippi State as a DB, Ole Miss I think as DB or athlete, and Southern (Miss) as a DB too. Southern Miss is an athlete."
Does he have a position preference on the college level?
"No sir, really I'll play as an athlete because anywhere on the field that they need me I'm willing to go," McLaurin said.
Position is not the only thing McLaurin is keeping an open mind about. He is not ready to name any leaders when it comes to the recruiting process.
The three-star standout does not know what visits are coming up on his schedule, but he was happy he was able to make the trip to San Antonio.
"It's a blessing," McLaurin said. "Without the hard work, God, my team, and my coaches I wouldn't be out here. First I have to thank them. Otherwise being out here it's nice. I know it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be out here. Too many people didn't get to make it and I'm blessed to be one of them (who did)."
McLaurin worked at both running back and defensive back at the Army Combine in San Antonio. He is currently ranked as a three-star athlete and is No. 15 in the first Rivals.com Mississippi Top 15 for the 2015 recruiting class.
