McLain impressed at junior day

Griffin McLain admitted he didn't know much about coach Mike Leach's career but after reading his new book and meeting Leach Saturday at Washington State's junior day, the Snoqualmie (Wash.) Mount Si tight end is highly interested in the program.
The 6-foot-5, 240-pound in-state standout sees lots of positive changes happening with the program since Leach's arrival.

"It was pretty cool," McLain said. "We saw all the facilities and met with the coaches and got to see what an average practice was like down there. It was pretty legit.
"It's not going to be the same Washington State anymore. They want to this year make a bowl game.
"I didn't really know that much about (Leach). I just knew he was at Texas Tech and they were successful. I just started reading his book a couple weeks ago and after meeting him (Saturday) he seems like a really good guy."
Washington State's coaches did not discuss an offer during his visit but McLain said he'll remain hopeful and plans to return for summer camp.
In the next couple months, the Mount Si standout said he wants to stay in touch with the new Washington State coaching staff to see how things progress.
"They haven't really discussed (an offer) yet," McLain said. "They'll start calling me in the next couple months and I will give the wide receivers coach a call. I'll probably be back for the summer camp."
McLain is unsure of any other visits but he could see Oregon State and Arizona prior to his senior season. A stop at the Badger Sport 7-on-7 in Las Vegas next month is being planned as well.
