McKnight sees USC

One of the nation's top prospects is on the West Coast visiting friends and took the opportunity to make an unofficial visit to one of his three current favorites, the University of Southern California.
Five-star River Ridge (La.) John Curtis athlete Joe McKnight took a tour of Troy on Monday and came away impressed.

"It went good," McKnight said. "My friend took me up there and dropped me off. I liked everything about the campus."
"This trip has figured into my decision."
It wasn't McKnight's first trip to USC. He attended the Los Angeles NIKE Camp in 2005.
One of the questions frequently asked about McKnight is what position he will play in college. As a junior, McKnight averaged nearly 18 yards per play from scrimmage. He also accounted for 22 touchdowns from rushing (9), receiving (5), kickoff returns (1), punt returns (4) and interception returns (3)
"(USC) is looking at me to play running back/wide receiver," he said. "They said something like that.
"I really want to play running back (wherever I go)."
McKnight also got the chance to meet some of the USC coaches.
"I met some of them," he said.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound McKnight, the nation's No. 13 overall prospect and the top prospect in the state of Louisiana, currently has the Trojans in his top three, along with LSU and Florida State.
The trio is in no order.
"They are just all three at the top," he said.
McKnight added that he will make official visits to all three. He has been to LSU and USC, but has yet to go to Florida State, but will.
McKnight does not have a timetable for making a final decision, but does not expect to make one before the season.
