Maurice McKnight remains happily committed to San Diego State but after performing well at the UCLA camp in recent weeks he's hopeful the Bruins might offer.
That is not expected to even be considered until the San Bernardino (Calif.) Arroyo Valley defensive back plays a few games in his senior season but McKnight said he's going to work toward an offer and thinks one might come.
"I've been hearing still from UCLA," McKnight said. "They said they're still looking at me and they're very interested in me.
"They said they're going to make a decision in the first four games of the season. They want to see me tackle. They want to see me tackling in games. They said they've seen me cover at camp and now they want to see me tackle."
It sounds like something McKnight, a three-star prospect by Rivals.com, would at least consider.
"It would be a big improvement if I got an offer from them because it's Pac-12 and it's still a local school," McKnight said.
So far, the San Bernardino Arroyo Valley standout has been offered by San Diego State, New Mexico State, San Jose State, UTEP and Portland State.
The three-star has been visiting with his cousin, Damon Ogburn, Jr., at San Jose State and McKnight said it's been a good trip and the Spartans are definitely being considered.
His commitment remains firm but with new looks from San Jose State and the possibility of an offer from UCLA, McKnight is not closing any doors this early.
"I came up to visit San Jose," McKnight said. "I'm up here with my cousin and I'll probably visit the school. I got offered by San Jose so I wanted to come visit the school. It' starting to become an option but I'm still excited to play at San Diego State."
