McKitty moves on

Tre McKitty's decision to part ways with Miami wasn't made with haste. It's something the class-of-2017 tight end had been considering for some time. He waited until the Hurricanes' coaching change was complete, gave it some though, and made a difficult phone call.

This was not based on a whim.
"They were disappointed at Miami, but they understood," McKitty said Sunday night. "They we understanding. They know they're still high on my board."
But there are other schools that are also high on McKitty's board. The Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy tight end has visited Florida on several occasions and may return to Gainesville this spring. Other schools he hasn't yet seen, however, are also on his to-visit list.
"I've been to Auburn but my dad hasn't been there," McKitty said. "I want to get there this spring and bring him to see it. I want to go to North Carolina. I want to see Clemson definitely. I want to check out Michigan and Ohio State. I've been to all the Florida schools, so I want to get out and see what I can see."

WHAT'S NEXT?:McKity doesn't plan to take visits until after well after Signing Day. He has set no destinations, but is hoping to tour school outside of Florida.
IN HIS WORDS: "I might visit Florida again, but I've been there, like, 20 times," McKitty said. "I might just talk to the coaches and see what they want and if I want to visit again this spring."
RIVALS' REACTION: McKitty can't be considered a lean to any particular school. He is extremely interested in Auburn and has always seemed to have an eye on the Gators. McKitty's recruitment isn't likely to take any notable shape until the spring.
