McKinney star heads to Tech

McKinney (Texas) North running back Shannon Woods has gone from a recruit that nobody knew about to a player that is going to get to play his football in the Big 12.
“A whole lot of people didn’t know about me coming into the season,” Woods, who is 5-foot-11 and 195 pounds, said. “But I worked hard and had a great season.”

That great season led to a scholarship offer first from Kansas, but then Texas Tech came into the race late and offered a scholarship also. That offer led to a visit to Lubbock this weekend and a commitment for the Red Raiders.
“Well, I never honestly wanted to leave Texas,” Woods said. “And I know that I fit in perfectly with the offense. I also fit in with everybody – the players and the coaches. There were a number of reasons for my commitment.”
Woods said he’s excited about working in the Tech offense.
“I know I’ll get a lot touches in a number of different ways,” he said.
