McKinney lands major offer

Brandon McKinney had a strong showing at the UCLA Elite Camp this summer and the Bruins' coaches took notice.
The 2017 four-star defensive back from Orange (Calif.) Lutheran has been talking to UCLA defensive backs coach Demetrice Martin regularly and in the last few days finally landed his latest offer.

"He wanted to wait a while for the official offer," McKinney said. "He was really waiting on me and he just wanted to make it official. We had been talking for a couple months after the UCLA camp where he really liked me.
"He got together with the staff at UCLA and we talked before he officially offered me. Coach (Kennedy) Polamalu called my coach when they offered. He wanted to tell me before coach Polamalu told my coach so we could have that bond.
"(Martin) wanted to be the one to tell me first."
So far, McKinney has landed offers from UCLA, Arizona State, Boston College and Washington.
The four-star from Orange Lutheran said Cal and Colorado have also reached out but he's unsure if either Pac-12 program is ready to offer.
As for his newest one from UCLA, McKinney admits it's definitely big. A major program, close to home with a lot to offer, the Bruins look good early in his recruitment.
"It's pretty big," McKinney said. "It's up there on my list right now. It's a big-time school and really close by."
