McKinley ready for road trips

Javon McKinley has seen the local schools but soon the four-star receiver will hit the road and visit some other schools involved in his recruitment.
"In two weeks we'll be doing a 7on7 tournament in Miami and the following week we'll be doing one in Chicago so I'll be able to see Miami and Notre Dame," McKinley said.

The Corona (Calif.) Centennial standout is expected to see the Pac-12 programs in California in the coming weeks as well but McKinley said he's nowhere near a decision this early.
"I've been talking with Demetrice Martin at UCLA to see some spring practices and then I'm always keeping in touch with Tee Martin to see some practices," McKinley said. "I'm going to take two more visits. I'm going to see Cal for sure and I'm trying to see Stanford, too, when I'm up there.
"I'm nowhere near (a decision). Before the season, around the end of summer, I'm going to have my solid top 10, top five throughout the season and then at the Army Bowl I'm going to make my decision. I want to take all my official visits.
"I was kind of itching to get something done but at the same time I'm giving all the schools a fair shot to recruit me. If I'm just giving schools in my area a chance and I'm not going out to make an effort that's just not fair."
As for official visits, McKinley said he definitely wants to see Oregon and Notre Dame and he's also seriously considering a trip to Tennessee after hearing good things about the Volunteers.
"I hear a lot of dudes that have gone there for an official visit and they say it's an amazing school and I really want to check that out," McKinley said.
More offers could be on the way for McKinley, who's rated as the No. 15 wide receiver and the No. 80 prospect in the 2016 class. He said Alabama and Texas A&M have started to reach out and could be next on his list.
