Leander, Texas athlete Josh McKinley is doing what any high school kid would do during the summer by relaxing and looking ahead to a big senior year. A new scholarship offer came for the talented young man, but he's keeping his optinos open.
Purdue, SMU, and UTEP were the first three to offer, but now Colorado State has sent one to McKinley. The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder takes the next one as a new opportunity but is not rushing anything just yet.
"I'm excited about it," McKinley said. "It's another blessing and I look forward to anyone else that comes."
McKinley says that SMU is talking about him playing quarterback, while the other three are recruiting him as an athlete.
"I prefer to play quarterback," McKinley said. "But, I love football and I'll play anywhere to help the team out."
As for visits, McKinley has spoken with Purdue about an official trip in September. Texas A&M is also another school that has been in contact with the Lone Star prospect.
"I don't have a favorite right now," he said. "I'm just enjoying the recruiting process and living it up."
McKinley says that Houston, Kansas, and Rice are three schools showing a lot of interest without sending an offer yet.
