McKenzie headed to Big 12 North

San Antonio (Texas) Jay athlete Nevin McKenzie went ahead and end the recruiting process.
“Nevin went ahead and verbally committed to K-State,” Jay coach Larry Pullin said. “He felt good in going ahead and getting it out of the way. Kansas State has had a lot of success recently. That is what kids remember about the program. They’ve got a good program. He felt like he’d be more comfortable because of the success and the staff that is in place.”

McKenzie accepted K-State's scholarship offer over offers from Missouri and Baylor and strong interest from Texas A&M.
McKenzie has been a do-it-all for Pullin’s team and figures on that continuing in 2003.
“He played fullback for us last year,” Pullin said of the two-star rated athlete. “We had a pretty good running back and Nevin was just an explosive blocker. He made holes for the running game to go through. We’ll play him at running back this year. He is talented enough to do that."
