McKee still eyes pre-fall decision

Columbus (Ohio) Marion Franklin linebacker Anthony McKee has been aiming for a pre-season decision, and updated how far along he is in that process on Sunday.
"I actually haven't set a commitment date yet," McKee said. "I think I still want to commit before the season."

McKee had previously stated his desire to make a pre-season commitment coming off a visit to Michigan State earlier this month. At the time he said the Spartans can "feel really good where they stand," on his interest list.
"They are still sitting in a good place, definitely," McKee said. "I haven't really been talking to coaches from other schools, but I have been talking to (Michigan State assistant Mike) Tressel a lot."
Conversations with Tressel at this stage are less about what the school can offer and more about continuing the relationship between the two parties.
"I believe that I know everything about Michigan State," McKee said. "I have been hearing of that school since the beginning and they got an early commitment from a player at my school (Robert Bowers) who has been telling me how good everything is there."
The offer list for McKee is close to 20 schools. He named a top 10 last month, and said there are other besides Michigan State still on his mind.
"Oklahoma, Kentucky, Purdue, Wisconsin, Pitt - those schools are the ones who reach out to me day-to-day," he said.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound McKee will open his 2014 season on Aug. 29. The three-star linebacker is coming off a junior season in which he tallied 110 tackles including 12 sacks and three interceptions.
