McGuffie, Stonum ready for next visit

Houston-area prospects Darryl Stonum and Sam McGuffie are looking at an upcoming trip this June to one of the several schools that has offered both players.
Stonum, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound receiver from Sugar Land (Texas) Fort Bend Dulles and Cy-Fair all-purpose back McGuffie will be heading up for an unofficial visit in June to Michigan. Both prospects say nothing is set for sure, but both top prospects may be announcing their decisions on the same day.

"I'm going to up to Michigan with my teammates Troy Woolfolk, Brandon Herron, and (Sam) McGuffie on June 10," Stonum said. "Then I've got two other visits I'm going to take to USC and Florida. Those are going to be this summer and they might before I get to Michigan – I don't know yet."
Stonum says he'd like to have his decision out of the way either right before or during the early part of the season. He's spoken with coaches at both Florida State and Alabama, the other two schools in his top five, but doesn't have exact dates set for those two visits yet.
"I'm going to try to get to those two also," Stonum said. "I might try to visit Florida State when I go down to visit Florida. Coach (Major) Applewhite has let me know when their camp is, so I'm going to try and make it down there for that."
McGuffie has spoken with Stonum about not just taking some visits this summer together, but also announcing on the same day. It doesn't appear that is a for sure plan just yet.
"We've just talked since we've been in track," McGuffie said. "He runs for Dulles and so we run against each other in the relays. I talked to him about it, but I don't know if we're going to do that or not yet."
Unlike Stonum, McGuffie says it's hard to name a set list of favorites. Before he had his list narrowed to a top 13 that included Cal, Alabama, USC, Michigan, Notre Dame, Florida, Miami, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Florida State, Iowa State, Arizona, and North Carolina.
The talented all-purpose back says that with new offers coming from schools such as Arkansas and Penn State, the picture isn't as clear.
"The list is getting longer, so I can't really say yet," McGuffie said about favorites. "All the new offers are throwing me off."
