McGuffie getting SEC offers

Houston (Texas) Cy-Fair running back Sam McGuffie is certainly not a secret any longer.
The Houston star hurdled onto the recruiting scene with gaudy numbers and one amazing highlight that hit the national media. Apparently the national exposure is working, seeing that the 6-foot-0, 185-pound athlete received an official offer from the Florida Gators over the weekend.

"I'm very excited about getting offered by Florida," McGuffie said. "I really want to get down to their 'Friday Night Lights' camp. I've heard a lot of good things about that camp."
Alabama assistant Major Applewhite came by Cy-Fair this week. McGuffie called Alabama head coach Nick Saban on Monday and received more good news.
"I talked with coach Saban Monday night and he offered me," McGuffie said. "He thought I was a very impressive athlete. He explained that he's coached several years in the pros and that he could help me get there if I was good enough."
McGuffie had a productive within the last two weeks receiving offers from Baylor and Minnesota, and winning the 110-hurdles and long jump at the Magnolia High School track meet.
"I talked with the coaches from Minnesota and they seem like they have a really cool staff," McGuffie said. "I think they are going to shake things up in the Big Ten with Coach (Tim) Brewster. They are really good guys.
"The coaches from Minnesota were telling me to keep my grind and stay hungry. They said to keep the swagger and that's what I'm going to do."
McGuffie's other offers include Notre Dame, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Arizona, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Arizona, Georgia Tech and Kansas State.
"When I was a freshman, I always thought I would play something in college because I was pretty fast," he said. "Now, I've got an entirely different mindset. I'm getting these national offers and over double-digits. Double digit offers, I can't believe it."
UCLA may be offering this week as well according to McGuffie.
