McGriff ready for first visit

Erick McGriff is a wide receiver prospect from Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit High School. McGriff, 6-4 and 190 pounds, finished the season with 45 receptions for over 700 yards and five scores. Jesuit beat arch-rival Tampa (Fla.) Catholic last Thursday. In that game McGriff made some spectacular plays, scoring on a fade route and returning the second half kickoff about 90 yards.
"I think I broke about six tackles on that kick return," McGriff said. "On my touchdown reception we call that the 'McGriff' fade. It was a great way to end my high school football career. It felt good."

McGriff is one of the state's top receiver prospects. He has great size and hands and good speed. McGriff is also strong after the catch and has surprising quickness for a bigger receiver.
"I really worked hard on my route running and getting open this past year. I am stronger now and I broke a lot of tackles."
McGriff has scholarship offers from teams like Arkansas, Auburn, Kansas, Troy and Cincinnati. So far he has one official visit set up and that's to Kansas (12-5) next month.
"Right now I am wide open. So far Kansas is the only thing I have set up."
Jesuit finished the season at 6-4 and did not make the playoffs. McGriff will now turn his attention to basketball, where he plays small forward and power forward. Last season he averaged 10 points and five rebounds.
