McGill committs to Rams

Running back Tramell McGill (6-0, 190, 4.5) from Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton has made Colorado State fans happy when he committed to Sonny Lubick and company yesterday. McGill is a great fit for the Rams offense. He’s a playmaker and was a major factor in Hamilton’s Arizona State Championship season in 2003.
“I just verbally committed to Colorado State yesterday,” McGill said. “I just felt good about CSU and the program.”

“I had fun when I took my trip,” McGill said. “My whole family feels good about my decision.”
“I liked the city of Fort Collins,” McGill said. “And the players on the team are cool.”
Not only do the Rams get a playmaking running back but a guy who puts the team first.
“Right now the plan is for me to come in and compete for playing time as a true freshman,” McGill said. “If it is better for the team for me to red shirt I’m cool with that, too.”
McGill rushed for 118 yards on 22 carries and scored two touchdowns, including the game winner in the third overtime when Hamilton beat Mesa (Ariz.) Mountain View 35-28 in thrilling state championship game in early December.
McGill and company paid Mountain View back after losing to them in the opening game of the season. Not only did Hamilton beat Mountain View is the state championship game but finished Mountain View’s state long 27 game winning streak.
For the season McGill has rushed for over 1,551 and scored 21 touchdowns. He would have rushed for even more yards but he sat out a lot of action because Hamilton blew out a lot of opponents.
McGill had other offers from Wyoming and Utah. He had a visit scheduled with Utah on January 16th but he will cancel that visit.
McGill is glad to be a Ram.
