Phoenix (Ariz.) Moon Valley’s Chris McGaha really impressed us at the SoCal Nike Camp last April and he hasn’t slowed down since. The talented athlete is having a monster senior season and has now set three of his official visits.
McGaha, 6-1, 185 pounds was arguably the top receiver of the day at the Nike Camp in San Diego where he tested very well running a 4.50 in the 40, 4.19 in the shuttle, jumped 36 inches in the vertical and did 18 reps on the bench. He was equally impressive in the position drills showing a nice burst and great hands.
As a junior, McGaha was an all-region and all-state selection after totaling 2,000 all purpose yards and 22 touchdowns including an amazing 11 on kick returns and also picked off five passes on defense. As a senior, McGaha has caught 62 balls for 1,253 yards and 18 touchdowns and rushed for two more scores.
On the recruiting front, it’s tough for us to imagine the athlete leaving the state and saying no to Arizona or Arizona State but a few other schools are giving it the old college try.
“I’m going to visit San Diego State (Dec 10), Boise State (Dec 17) and Arizona (Jan 7),” McGaha said. “Those three along with ASU are my favorites and I’m also looking at Colorado State and could visit there. I’ve been to ASU and Arizona to take in games this year and enjoyed the atmosphere a lot at both colleges. Everyone is pretty much even right now. They’re all recruiting me about the same and I don’t have a leader among the group. I’m hoping to take all my visits and them make my decision.”
