Cassius McDowell is another running back prospect from South Florida with scholarship offers. McDowell, 5-8.5 and 160 pounds, is from Deerfield Beach (Fla.) High School.
"I have scholarship offers from UConn, West Virginia, Michigan and Florida International," McDowell said. "West Virginia offered on September 1st and that was great. They are a good team and I like their spread offense. They have a lot of speed.
"Michigan was a big offer for me as well. I really like the Big 10 and I like their spread offense and the coaches. Plus, I have two teammates going there and they are recruiting me pretty hard.
"Florida and Miami are recruiting me hard as well.
"I like all the colleges out there and right now I would say I am pretty open."
Last season as a junior McDowell only played in six games because of a hip pointer. He still rushed for 968 yards (101 carries) and 18 scores.
"I am an elusive runner that can make people miss. I need to just get bigger."
McDowell is now participating in track. He runs the 100 (10.66) and 200 meters (21.12).
