McDowell receives spring break boost

The recruiting process was already off to a solid start for Covington (La.) defensive lineman Garrald McDowell. He picked up an offer from Kansas State in November and then added the SEC trio of Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Alabama over the next few months.
Over spring break his recruitment jumped up another notch. While out of the country for a weeklong vacation, he nearly doubled his offer list with Miami, Mississippi State, USC all jumping on board.

"It was great coming back and getting all those offers, but that doesn't stop me from what I'm working for," McDowell said. "That just pushes me to keep working harder."
The offers did not stop there either. Late last week Arizona State extended an offer, and McDowell is excited to learn more about the coaching staffs, the facilities, and the academics of each of his new options.
In addition to his offers he continues to receive significant interest from LSU, Texas, and Texas A&M, and next on the schedule is an SEC campus visit.
"I'm going to visit Ole Miss this Saturday to watch the spring game," McDowell said.
Ole Miss is not the only SEC stop he has planned for the spring.
"I'm going back to Alabama this spring, but that's the only one I know of right now," McDowell said.
The two SEC schools are also at the top of his current list of options
"I like the environment and the love about Bama," McDowell said. "And Ole Miss I like the coaching staff and they have been getting of players so watch out for Ole Miss."
However, he is quick to point out it is still early in the process. In fact while Ole Miss and Alabama currently stand out he is keeping an open mind and he is not in a hurry to make a final decision.
"My options are still open," McDowell said. "I'm just going to wait until after my senior year of football until I make my commitment."
