McDowell receives big news

Covington (La.) three-star defensive tackle Garrald McDowell became a hot target for coaches across the country.
At 6-foot-2 and 257-pounds McDowell has made a name for himself with his explosion and technique in the middle of the defensive line and he saw his first offers hit the table late in 2012.

Since then he has seen his offer list grow to include the likes of Alabama, Kansas State, Florida, Arkansas, Miami, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State. On Wednesday coach Brick Haley, LSU's defensive line coach, let him know the Tigers were extending an offer.
The offer from the Tigers puts them firmly in the mix for the Louisiana standout.
"LSU is on my top five list, but my options are still open," McDowell excitedly texted Wednesday evening.
Officially McDowell has not named a top five, but it is safe to say LSU is in it. He does have a top seven of LSU, Ole Miss, Alabama, USC, Florida, Oklahoma, and Arkansas, and hopes to trim his list in the near future.
"I want to narrow it down before the fall," McDowell texted. "Before I take my official visits."
Since McDowell lists LSU among his top five, does that mean he plans to visit in the fall?
"Yeah, I'm going to take an official visit there in the fall," McDowell texted.
Earlier this summer McDowell camped at LSU, and this weekend McDowell heads to the Opening in Beaverton, Oregon along with several other top prospects.
