McDowell eyes SEC

Covington (La.) three-star defensive tackle Garrald McDowell has not made a decision on one school but he certainly has his eyes set on a specific conference.
The 6-3, 255-pound defensive lineman has his sights set on the SEC and it is reflected in his new list of top schools.

"Ole Miss, LSU, Arkansas, Florida, and Alabama," McDowell said in regards to his favorites.
Of the five there are three who stand above the others.
"Ole Miss, LSU, and Arkansas," McDowell said.
What is it that stands out about his top schools that allowed them to make the cut.
"Well they are all SEC schools," McDowell said. "Ole Miss has a great coaching staff, and had one of the biggest recruiting classes last year. Then they are on the board to be one of the best teams in college. LSU has a good defensive line coach, who sends a lot of players to the pros. They are always in the top five every year, and defensively they're always in the top five too. Arkansas, because of Otha Peters, my big brother, and they have a good coaching staff."
Florida and Alabama also bring plenty to the table.
"Those are two schools who are in my top five because send players to the pros," McDowell said. "Both have great coaching staffs, their defenses are always among the tops in college, and both have great programs."
He does not have any official visits scheduled right now but he does have one visit in mind.
"I know I'm going to Arkansas and that's the only visit I know right now," McDowell said.
At this point, the standout defender is not ready to name a leader, but the thought of making an early commitment has crossed his mind.
"I think I want to do it before the season so I can focus on my team and my senior year," McDowell said. "I just don't know when."
He does not have any specific date in mind for a decision yet, but his commitment could be coming soon.
