McDowdell waiting for Miami

MORE: LB Miner making a name for himself
The way Lance McDowdell sees it, he has three options. As of now, though, it's more like two and a half.

McDowdell, a three-star defensive tackle at Nassau County (N.Y) Community College, has already seen UCF and has a visit to Northern Illinois in late January. The other school involved in the process is Miami. And while an offer is on the table, things between the Hurricanes and McDowdell have a final hurdle to clear.
"I sent my transcripts just now," McDowdell said. "As soon as they see the transcript, we'll set a date for the visit. That's where things are now."
So McDowdell has been reduced to waiting calmly. While Miami makes reviews his transcript, he's planning an announcement.
"I'm announcing Feb. 5 at my old high school," McDowdell said. "Not at my JUCO, but at my high school."
According to McDowdell, Northern Illinois and Miami are equal in his mind, but he acknowledges that he has a soft spot for the Hurricanes - there's a reason he's waiting for an academic ruling, after all.
"I mean, it's the U," McDowdell said. "I didn't grow up rooting for Miami, but I grew up watching them a lot."
At one time, McDowdell claimed seven scholarship offers. He was seriously considering USC before the coaching change took place. He is ranked as the No. 68 junior college player in the 2014 class.
