McClure plans to narrow list to five

Stefan McClure wants to narrow his extensive list to a final five by late July or early August and he said two teams have already made the cut and he'll figure out the other three in the next couple weeks.
"I'm trying to narrow it down to the top five," McClure said. "I know for sure Washington and UCLA are in there and the rest I'm trying to sort out those last three schools."

Arizona, Boise State, Cal, Colorado, Colorado State, Miami, Minnesota, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State, Utah and Washington State have also offered McClure, a four-star cornerback from Vista, Calif. Rivals.com rates him as the eighth-best cornerback, No. 131 in the 2011 class and No. 17 in the California state rankings.
McClure said he's close to figuring out the other three but that Washington and UCLA will for sure make the cut.
"I'm nearing them," McClure said. "Hopefully before August or the end of July I could have my top five. I'm going to look at all the schools, do my research, look at the depth and everything, look at the location, look at the coaching staffs I have a good relationship with and stuff like that."
The Huskies and Bruins certainly fit the bill with McClure, one of the top defensive backs at Monday's Pete Carroll Win Forever Festival in Carson, Calif. McClure and Livermore (Calif.) Granada's Josh Atkinson were the two best cornerbacks at the one-day camp.
Not only is McClure, who would like to play football and run track in college, athletic and lanky but he's physical at the line of scrimmage and has no problems jamming wide receivers. Washington and UCLA are definitely out in front for him.
"Coach (Steve Sarkisian) is great, coach (Demetrice) Martin is great, they're young and they have tons of energy," McClure said of Washington. "They're trying to build something great up there. They're always talking about the changes they have going on. It's going to be pretty great up there. They're making great strides.
"With UCLA, that one is close to home and they have great coaches. I grew up wanting to go to UCLA. They have a good track program, track and football. It's two hours away so my parents could go to all the home games."
