McCain names top two

Wide receiver Dyrri McCain holds a couple offers from Akron and Maryland. The 5-foot-9, 173-pounder out of Norfolk (Va.) Maury claims two schools are leading for his services at this time.
"I've very interested in Maryland as well as Virginia Tech, if I had to choose right now it'd be between those schools," he stated. "Virginia Tech is a big draw for me because my former quarterback Cam Chancellor went there. He's playing defense for them now and says great things about Tech. The coaches seem to love him and it would be nice to learn the system under him because I trust him and he's my role model.

"I'd say Maryland is right there with Virginia Tech. I like them because of the roster. It looks like there are a lot of seniors which means I'd have a good chance to play early. I like the environment and feel like I fit in. I also like the coaches. They are challenging."
At this time, Virginia Tech hasn't offered the two-star prospect.
"They continue to send me handwritten mail wishing me luck on the season, but no offer," he said. "The coaches have said they plan to come down and watch me play this season to check me out some more."
On the field, McCain is getting poised for a big year.
"I'm learning how to be a captain on the team and can't wait for our first game on September 1st against Phoebus," he said. "That's a big game since we lost by one point to them in the playoffs last year. We've got to show them what we can do this season.
"I can tell we're looking pretty good, but I've improved too. I'm working much harder putting in extra running time to make my game better. I think I still need to develop my strength some and technique."
