McCain gets first two offers, names leaders

Norfolk (Va.) Maury wide receiver Dyrri McCain has picked up his first two offers. The 5-foot-10, 172-pounder received the scholarships from the ACC and MAC.
"In the past week or so I've picked up offers from Maryland and Akron," he said. "I'm really looking at both of them. I'm looking at Akron because I'm a smaller guy and I like the underdog. They are also a school that will give me a chance and were one of the first to check me out.

"Meanwhile, Maryland is a school that is in my top five. I'm definitely going to check them out some more because I like their style of play. They also always seem to have good athletes on the offensive and defensive side of the ball and send a lot of players to the NFL."
Despite claiming his first two offers, McCain has two other schools that are leading for his services.
"I'd say my top two are Boston College and Virginia Tech," he said. "I like Virginia Tech because they are a great school and they do good things on both sides of the ball, but especially at defensive back with NFL corners like Jimmy Williams and DeAngelo Hall who have come out of there. It'd be great to follow in that tradition on defense.
"Offensively they are very good too and they have my former quarterback Cameron Chancellor there. I know they've gotten a real good look at me from recruiting him and the chance to play with him at the next level is big. That is a huge draw because I had a great bond with him in high school, Cam and I just knew what to do out there."
As for Boston College, McCain discussed them a bit.
"I've been getting recruited by coach Willis and he is a great guy," he said. "I know they have a lot of history and tradition at their school. They also are a great all-around program academically and athletically. I'm very interested in them."
The Commonwealth prospect believes two schools could be offering in the near future.
"It appears that there is a possibility that Marshall and Virginia Tech could offer soon," he said. "Marshall talked to my coach and said there is a good chance they'll offer if I go to camp. Virginia Tech said much of the same and would probably personally give me an offer if I head out there for camp this summer."
McCain confirmed he plans to go to both Marshall and Virginia Tech's camps in June.
