McBath committed to TCU but...

Who’s the best defensive back in the state of Texas that nobody has heard of? His name is Darcel McBath, and he’s a 6-foot-1, 175-pound two-star cornerback from Gainesville, Texas. He made an early commitment to TCU, but it looks like that pledge is getting pushed quite a bit now by some other programs.
So what makes McBath so talented?

“I see myself as a big hitter,” McBath, who has been timed at 4.5-seconds in the 40-yard dash, said. “I can also cover really well. I on offense, I also can’t be stopped. So far this year, I’m playing both ways. I have six touchdowns and 27 tackles. I’m playing more strong safety to help the team out, but I’ll project as a cornerback in college.”
Speaking of college, what about this TCU pledge he made earlier this summer.
“Well, I am committed to TCU, but I’m looking a lot at other schools,” he said. “I don’t think me being committed to TCU will stop me from looking at other schools. I’m going to look at them all the same. I really want to take all five of my official visits.”
And McBath has plenty of other options.
He’s been offered scholarships by TCU, SMU, Maryland and Kansas. He’s hoping to take official visits to TCU, Maryland, Kansas and Arkansas. He’s also getting regular calls from Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Wisconsin.
“I was at the SMU-Oklahoma State game last week,” McBath said.
“They kind of got smashed, I don’t know if I want to be part of that. I really want to see what it’s like at Maryland and Kansas for sure, too. I told those coaches that I want to set up visits and see what they’re about.”
