McAndrew ready to make visit

Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard West three-star weakside defensive end Tom McAndrew (6-foot-5, 235) has been verbally committed to the Stanford Cardinal for what seems like forever. So is McAndrew still loyal to Stanford?
"I'm definitely a solid commit to Stanford," McAndrew said. "I wanted to take my official visit earlier, but I'm just getting past finals this week. I'm taking my official visit to Stanford on January 21st and I can't wait."

McAndrew has gotten a handful of calls since the coaching change happened at Stanford, yet McAndrew really never wavered in his commitment.
"I have gotten calls from a few schools like Illinois, UCLA and Northwestern, but they were more like just checking in with me to see where I stood after the coaching change happened. I heard from Illinois again recently, but I basically told them thanks but no thanks.
McAndrew was also happy that he verballed early in the recruiting process.
"As you know my recruiting was pretty low key, and that was because I verballed early and that's exactly how I wanted things to happen. My family and I did a lot of traveling in the spring and the early summer, and I also did a lot of research on schools early. I really felt like I made the right choice for myself early and I still feel that way today."
McAndrew has also enjoyed a few in home visits from the Stanford coaches.
"The in home visits from the coaches at Stanford have been really good, and my family and I have been able to get to know them much better. I'm also excited about waiting until finals are over with to make my official visit, this way I can truly enjoy my visit without having to worry about my exams."
In the meantime. McAndrew is enjoying his senior basketball season for the Hilltoppers.
"I know that I'm no superstar in basketball, but I'm competitive and I also like to just be on the court and playing. This season has been fun so far, and I like to just go out and compete."
