McAndrew lands another Big East offer

Glenbard West High School (Ill.) defensive end/tight end prospect Tom McAndrew (6-foot-5, 235 pounds) has landed his second Big East conference scholarship this spring, as well as his fourth overall offer when the University of Pittsburgh sent McAndrew an offer earlier this week.
"I just got an offer from the University of Pittsburgh this week," Tom McAndrew said. "I'm really excited about getting an offer from the Panthers. I'm not a big follower of college football like a lot of other guys are, but I know that Pitt is really on the rise. I was also floored with the brand new facilities at Pitt when I made an unofficial visit there a few weeks ago. Everything was split 50/50 between Pitt and the Steelers and everything was extremely impressive."

McAndrew also was at Northwestern University last Saturday. "I had a really good day at Northwestern last Saturday. I was able to meet Eric Washington, who's the new defensive line coach and we got along really well. I also like head coach Randy Walker as well as coach (Pat) Fitzgerald. I enjoy talking to them quite a bit and we had a good talk and visit. I was able to watch a scrimmage, and what I enjoyed was being able to be in the stadium and being able to see everything up close. You can just hear the hitting as well as the coaches working with the players. It was fun. I was also able to sit in a few meetings, and I got to talk to some of the players."
McAndrew added that, "Northwestern has a lot to offer, from the facilities to the education as well as the overall campus setting in Evanston. It was really nice at Northwestern. The coaches requested more junior tape, and I just sent that out this week."
So will McAndrew make any additional spring visits? "We just decided that were going to Stanford on April 24th for the spring game. I'm glad that we were able to get things worked out, because I've heard a lot about Stanford and I want to see the school for myself."
